I love all things French including the food, fashion, language and of course, skincare. French pharmacy products are renowned for their integrity and are used by many all over the world.
French Pharmacy products are known for being hypoallergenic with carefully thought out ingredients, meaning that they’re suitable for pretty much all skin types and can tackle a range of skin concerns. If you have particularly sensitive skin and have found that most British or American products are doing nothing but irritating your complexion, it might be time to incorporate some French pharmacy products into your regime and chances are you’ll be amazed at the results.
I’ve used a number of different French brands over the years and have become more and more obsessed with pharmacy products as a result. Luckily, most of these products are now available either online or in our own pharmacies such as Boots, so there’s no excuse for missing out.
The times that I rely most heavily on French pharmacy products is when my skin is really playing up in terms of dryness or when having a reaction. A couple of years ago I overdid the Retinol and ended up with sore, burnt skin and desperately needed something to save my face – literally! I turned to brands like La Roche Posay, Avene, Embryolisse and Bioderma to save my skin. I also like to use these brands when I have breakouts and problem skin.
There are a few French pharmacy products that I can’t live without and are a part of my daily skincare routine. Here are the four I recommend you try if you’re looking to incorporate a little Française into your skincare.
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo +
I’ve used and love La Roche Posay products for years and I particularly like using the Effaclar range. The Effaclar Duo + is designed to treat blemishes and spot prone skin in under 4 weeks. If you have oily skin, or just a few breakouts that you want to keep under control I highly recommend this product. It not only helps to fight against current and future breakouts, but helps to reduce the appearance of scars which is something that’s really important to me. I tend to scar with every breakout I have so want to ensure that I’m doing everything I can in my daily skincare to both prevent and treat old and new breakouts.
Bioderma Sensibio H20
This is the ultimate in micellar water. I, like most women have used about 100 different micellar water products and found that you can’t beat a French brand for the ultimate in make up removal. It’s the simplest and most sensitive way to remove face and eye make up as it’s extremely gentle and soothing.
It’s soap free and formulated specifically for sensitive and dry skin, making it perfect for all skin types.
Avene Thermal Water Spray
This light water spray soothes and cares for sensitive skin and irritated skin. When you have dry or sore skin then this is the perfect product to spritz either after cleansing or throughout the day. I particularly like to use mists and water sprays during the summer when the weather is warmer and during the winter months after cleansing for an extra calming, hydrating boost.
If you’re suffering from very dry skin and need something that’s going to fully quench your skins thirst, Embryolisse is the product you need. This rich cream is formulated with active ingredients to help restore the skin and ensure it’s protected and looked after.
What I love about this product is it can be used in so many ways, so if you have an especially bad reaction, sensitivity or dry spell, you can use Embryolisse as a cleanser, face wash, mask and of course, a moisturiser. I love products like this because when you’re in a panic about what to use on sore or dry skin, you can simply to stick to one product until things are calmer and healed.
I liked to use this during winter months at night-time where I can layer it over hyaluronic acid and leave to soak in all night. During the summer months I used this if I’ve caught the sun or my skin has become dry due to heat. It’s a must have for everyone.
