Hi my loves, how are we all doing?
We’re in the full swing of 2022 now and hopefully you’re feeling motivated, refreshed and excited for the year ahead.
I feel like each year that passes, we become that little bit closer to normality and I’m all for it. I think I mentioned in my resolutions last year that I wasn’t going to give myself false hope or expectations for what 2021 was going to bring as it wasn’t so much lockdowns, isolation or the news in general that was bringing me down, it was canceling plans and the disappointment that brought with it. This plan worked really well for me, and I was very careful to only plan things that were able to go ahead regardless of Covid, and this is exactly what I’m doing this year too!
At this point during the pandemic, I feel well equipped to actually make the most of things rather than keep mourning the loss of the things we can’t do. With this in mind I’ve decided to really explore my own city. I live in Bristol and realised recently when we were in Edinburgh that I cram so much into a city break when it’s somewhere I’m visiting, but there’s still SO much to see in Bristol that I never actually make time for.
Toby and I decided to try and have one day off a week, whether that be during the week or at the weekend (we’re accidental workaholics), to go somewhere in the city. It could be a coffee spot, a park, somewhere touristy, or even just a little stroll around. What I don’t want to do is leave Bristol one day and look back and think ‘why didn’t we go there?’ ‘why didn’t we do that?’ and have regrets once we’re gone. Yes, there’s things we can’t do, but there’s plenty of things we can.
Work-wise, things are moving forward in the best way for me. I already have partnerships for a few blog posts and discussions about some further collaborations too, so this is all positive and exciting and exactly what I’d hoped for!
You may or may not have seen that I’ve taken up Youtube again, a platform that I’ve had a love-hate relationship with for years! I have a channel that I’m really happy with which is ticking over nicely with visuals rather than content with me in, and after removing all of my videos earlier last year, I decided to do Vlogmas. I’ve always wanted to do it and was excited to get my vlogging camera out again and get back into the swing of things.
When I edit and upload, I don’t always end up seeing the videos all the way through because when you edit you mostly cut and move footage around without consuming it all, so the week after Christmas I watched all of my videos and my god you can tell I was rusty! I found the first few videos super hard to watch because I felt that they were long and not much was happening, my editing needed to improve and my energy was a little reserved, however I definitely got back into the swing of things and enjoyed it so much.
I love video content the most to consume, so it’s been really fun for me to be more involved with creating content in that way. It’s scary putting yourself out there, but I enjoy it and that’s why I’m doing it. I’m going to try and do a weekly vlog moving forward throughout the year, whether that’s vlogging for one day of that week, or a mash up of each day – there will be something!
In terms of travel, the only things I have booked is a trip away with my girlfriends in February and a little staycation in Cornwall for Toby’s birthday in March. For his birthday 2 years ago I booked for about 16 of us to go to Devon as a surprise but we actually went into lockdown on his birthday so I had to break the news to him that a trip was booked, but we weren’t actually going!
This year he wanted to go away with his parents so the four of us are going to Padstow. I’m pretty confident that we’ll make it as we can do lateral flow tests before and after, we are staying with Airbnb so we can either go or not go depending on how we feel closer to the time and we are driving, so again, minimal contact and completely on our own time.
The trip with my girls will hopefully consist of lots of food, comfy clothes, gossip and relaxing and I CANNOT wait!
I’m hoping to do a couple of UK trips later in the year too, another trip to Edinburgh of course, hopefully Brighton as it’s been far too long and maybe somewhere like the Cotswolds or the countryside.
I’d love to know how your 2022 is going so far, what resolutions you have, what travel plans you’ve made and what the year has in store for you?
Thanks my loves, we will chat again soon!
