Who doesn’t love styling a blazer? They can be dressed up, dressed down, worn for work and for play!
With much more focus on investing in quality clothes and less on fast fashion, I’m always on the lookout for those special pieces that will last in my wardrobe for the foreseeable future. I keep in mind a staple wardrobe when I’m shopping and consider whether what I’m buying will go with the rest of my wardrobe, if it fits well and if it’s something I love and will make use of. Too many times I’ve bought things in the moment and thrown them into a charity bag a year later, sometimes even with the tags still on. This is not good!
With sustainability (and my credit card limit!!) in mind, I have a few things that I know I will get a lot of wear out of and am happy to invest in. Of course, a blazer is top of the list.
The blazer has become a huge trend piece, but whilst being trendy it’s also a timeless classic. You can find one for pretty much every occasion and every season. I have a light blazer for the spring, a heavier one for autumn/winter and you can even style a blazer during summer.
I wear mine with jeans and a white tee with trainers for a casual look, or pair with boots for a more dressed up vibe. Layering a blazer over a dress or skirt is a great way to wear a blazer when the weather decides to warm up for a split second, or with leather trousers for laid back chic.
I am constantly on the hunt for a new blazer to add to my collection and when I saw this red blazer in Topshop, I couldn’t help myself.
It’s slightly oversized so has more of a boyfriend feel, but the bright red makes it feminine and flirty. This blazer makes a statement, so the rest of your outfit can be simple and genuinely effortless – this is the kind of style I love!
Here are a few blazers that I’ve been loving recently – the next on my list is the houndstooth for sure!
