I love a good road trip, and with a few of my friends living a couple of hours away, and my annual gal pal trips, I find myself doing road trips pretty often!
I’m usually the designated driver, which means I’ve learnt all the tricks for keeping the drive fun and full of good vibes.
Here are my tips for the perfect road trip.
The Perfect Playlist
No road trip is complete without a great playlist. I like to make one ahead of time and get everyone who’s coming along to add their favourite songs too.
It’s usally a mix of noughties nostalgia, or a total mashup of everyones favourite songs so is all over the place haha!
Car Snacks
Snacks are essential, especially when you’re driving for hours with a group of girls. I like to go for all the fun snacks like crisps, sweets, cereal bars, and recently because we went away at Christmas we had a lot of mince pies!
A Starbucks Stop
I always factor in a Starbucks stop (obviously), for matcha and coffee. I actually love making the journey part of the trip, and if I’m with the girls we’ll sit outside in the sunshine and drink our drinks and chill for a bit to enjoy spending time together.
A Gossip and Catch-Up List
This is one of my favourite parts of a road trip. There’s always so much to catch up on, and somehow car chats are always the best ones. Sometimes we’ll even make a little list beforehand of all the things we want to talk about, and if you run out of things to talk about (when has this ever happened), we like to chat in detail about each of our jobs so we get to really understand that part of each others lives – I love this.
Bring a Cosy Layer
Even in summer, I always bring a hoodie or blanket for ultimate cosy vibes. There’s nothing worse than being stuck for hours in the car and not be comfy.
The best road trips are the ones where you enjoy the journey just as much as the destination – it’s cheesy but true. With my favourite music, tones of snacks, and a Starbs, even a long drive can feel like the best part of your trip!
