We spend so much time on our phones and laptops that it can feel like tech is one of the main reasons we’re constantly switched on. But I’ve realised it can actually do the opposite too, when you use it in the right way, it can really help you switch off. Whether it’s for winding down before bed, finding calm in the chaos, or just taking a few minutes for yourself, there’s so much amazing tech out there that can help you feel more relaxed.
Here are a few of my favourites that actually make a difference.
Meditation Apps
If you’ve ever tried meditating on your own and given up after 30 seconds (same), then guided meditation apps are a must. I love Calm, Headspace and Insight Timer — they make it so easy to fit in a quick meditation, even if you’ve only got a few minutes. I usually do one before bed or if I’m feeling anxious, and it honestly helps me reset completely. It’s like giving your mind a little breather.
A Sunrise Alarm Clock
This one was a total game changer for me. Waking up to natural light instead of my phone alarm blaring in my ear makes such a difference. The gentle light feels way more peaceful and it actually helps me wake up in a good mood. Especially in winter, when it’s dark and miserable outside, this makes getting up feel a lot easier.
Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Sometimes you just need to block everything out. I use mine for everything — podcasts, audiobooks, music, or just a bit of peace when I’m working. There’s something about putting them on that instantly makes me feel calmer, like I’ve got my own little bubble to recharge in.
Journaling Apps
I love writing things down, especially when I’ve got a lot going on in my head. But sometimes I don’t want to dig out my notebook, so journaling apps like Stoic or Daylio are perfect. You can write down a few thoughts, track your mood, or just brain dump everything that’s stressing you out. It’s a small thing, but it really helps you feel lighter.
Sleep and Relaxation Sounds
I can’t sleep in silence, so sound apps are my go-to. I’ll usually play rain sounds or ocean waves — there’s something so calming about it. It completely changes the vibe of my room and helps me drift off so much easier. It’s such a simple thing but makes a huge difference to how well I sleep.
