Fairy Tales In Florence

Florance Italy

Florence – Italy

Flight Time From UK: 2hr 10mins

Best Time to Visit – All year round is perfect for visiting beautiful Florence, however if you are looking to miss the massive queues and hoards of tourists, I would recommend March/April for good weather and a more relaxed vibe.

My top 3 place to visit in Florence

Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore

Uffizi Gallery

Ponte Vecchio Bridge

Ok choosing a top three is pretty much impossible. Florence itself is just one huge recommendation and I can’t urge you enough to visit this amazing city.

Being in Florence is like stepping back in time. The streets, the architecture, everything about this city is flooded with history and beauty, and for a relatively small city – there’s a lot to see.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Duomo is quite clearly the number one in Florence. We got up early to beat the queues to climb the tower and I am so glad we did as (I have climbed my fair share of bell towers in Europe), this bell tower climb was pretty sketchy, even for me, especially the part where you’re literally climbing a ladder…

Beating the rush was great, obviously, but seeing the city with the morning sunshine was just incredible. The beautiful terracotta rooftops and backdrop of stunning Tuscan hills is worth going for alone, and then having the rest of the day free to explore other things meant being able to fit so much more into the day.

If you are a museum lover, Florence has a LOT to offer you. There are so many amazing museums with great pieces such as the iconic ‘David’, but my favourite gallery (and hands down my most favourite gallery I have ever been to), was the Uffizi Gallery.

The interior is built around the square shape of the building, containing long corridors covered in renaissance art and portraits.

Along the Arno is the Ponte Vecchio medieval bridge, which houses shops along the pavements. It is such a unique bridge, it’s full of souvenir shops, jewellers, and gelato shops.

Other sights you need to have on your list of places to visit are the Palazzo Vecchio, Pitti Palace, Galleria dell’Accademia, Basilica of Santa Croce, Piazza del Duomo and the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella literally to name a few.

I honestly can’t recommend Florence enough – it is a truly special place and I guarantee you will fall in love with this city.
