The Leather Jacket Edit

Is there more of a wardrobe staple than a leather jacket? I think not. I remember getting my first faux jacket from Tammy girl when I was about 9 or 10. My friendship group all had different colours, purple, blue and me and my best friend had matching bright red. I loved that jacket and from then my love affair began.

I’ve always had a leather or faux leather jacket in my wardrobe and although my style has changed over the years, the need for this wardrobe staple has never left. There’s pretty much nothing a leather jacket doesn’t pair well with and it’s a go-to for all seasons and all events. You can wear it to the shops, to an event, to work or just to walk the dog, it’s the most flexible and versatile fashion piece you’ll ever buy.

There’s so many styles, shapes, colours and cuts, along with different materials. Of course, the classic real leather, faux leather, PVC, vinyl and of course, vegan leather. You can go biker, classic, oversized, cropped – whatever your shape, style or fabric preferences, there’s a leather jacket out there for you.

I used to have a real leather jacket and wore and loved it for years and year, but about 8 years ago I sold it and went for a faux leather instead. I absolutely love my current Topshop number and style it with everything. Anyone who knows me knows my leather jacket. To be honest it’s probably my most worn fashion item of all time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve found over recent months that I want to invest in another leather jacket so I have something more oversized to layer during winter, over jumpers and hoodies.

I’ve been scouring the internet trying to make a decision on what brand, fabric and shape to go for and I’m thinking oversized with silver hardware. I love All Saints pieces and these are of course an iconic staple in many people’s wardrobes. I bought my mum a beautiful leather jacket for her birthday a couple of years ago from ASOS which I’ve linked below. The brand is Barneys and it’s perfect for spring, summer and autumn. You can layer it over light jumpers, dresses and t-shirts and it sits really nicely over the shoulders.

Here’s some inspiration if you too are looking for the perfect addition to your staple wardrobe.
