Mothers Day isn’t something my family typically celebrates as my mum has always said to me that she would rather do something nice together or have a gift because you see something and like it, or because I’ve thought of her rather than because I have to or am expected to which is something I typically completely agree with. After six months of not seeing each other during this lockdown, it feels a little more needed!
Whenever we get to spend time together or see each other we’ll treat each other, however a lot of people do tend to buy gifts and treats on Mothers Day and with social distancing and a Mothers Day now spent in lockdown, most of us will probably be making more effort than usual to show thanks from afar.
Personalised gifts and embossed presents are not really up my street and I know that when buying gifts I like to find something that I know the person will use and love and look for something which fits with their personality, style and home. Etsy is great for all of the above! If you love your embossed quotes and typography which I know so many do and can totally see why, Etsy is the place to go. Luckily for people like me who like to go for something a little different, Etsy has a hell of a lot to offer!
We’re spending so much time at home at the moment and homewares aren’t something many people tend to buy for themselves, especially when on a budget, so I’ve chosen eight homeware gifts that I think are great Mothers Day gifts this year and will keep mums busy during lockdown!

Home Pottery Kit
I don’t know about you, but being in lockdown has made me feel so much more creative and has given me time to spend on hobbies that I wouldn’t ordinarily have found time to do. One thing I have been dying to try is pottery. This pottery kit on Etsy has everything you need to try pottery at home. You could even buy a kit for your mum and a kit for yourself and do it together over Zoom so you get to do it together.
I absolutely love dried flowers and as much as I love a beautiful fresh flower bouquet, dried flowers last forever so you not only get your monies worth, but you never have to worry about picking up flowers to fill up your favourite vases.
Dried flowers are so beautiful and such a great gift for your mum as she can enjoy them all the way until you get to see each other again which, let’s be honest is going to be a little while!
I have dried flowers that I’ve had a for a few years now and I love them just as much today as I did when I got them. I have so many gorgeous vases that I don’t want to get out only when I have fresh flowers so dried flowers are the perfect solution!
Self Care Gift Box
As well as trying out different hobbies, lockdown is the perfect time to take a moment to pamper yourself and focus on self care, so a self care gift box is a great gift idea. What I love about this self care box is that it has practical things you’ll actually use, meaning you can incorporate self care and feeling special into everyday activities like having some chocolate and making a coffee.
Who doesn’t love lighting a candle? Candles are my go-to gift for others and to myself. I love candles and they’re such a nice a way to wind down in the evening, or create a calm and mediative environment. Buying your mum a candle this Mothers Day is a fab way to share the calm vibes and gift your mum something she might not gift herself.
This set of natural soaps is a great gift and is one of those things you wouldn’t buy yourself but love to receive. With so much hand washing at the moment, soap is a practical gift too and with natural ingredients is far better for you and you’re mum will love the sentiment!
This terracotta tray is so beautiful! It’s the perfect addition to your desk, vanity or on your bedside table. I love the natural feel and it’s a wonderful gift because it can be used in so many ways.
In a similar vein to the clay pottery set, pressing flowers is a cute craft idea for during these last few weeks of lockdown especially as spring is fast approaching.
This won’t be everyones cup of tea… haha! But my mum actually used to collect teapots so whenever I see them I think of her. I’m also a huge tea drinker so anything tea related makes me happy. What can beat a bright pink flamingo teapot and matching mugs?!?
