I don’t know about you, but with all the distractions and busyness in preparation for Christmas, I tend to forget about a few simple things like keeping my skin hydrated and my mind calm.
Yes, Christmas is about giving and treating others, but it’s also about treating yourself, and self care should be a priority over the festive season!
Here are the things that I recommend trying out, stocking up on, and keeping close throughout December!
First things first, you need to set the scene. Is it Christmas without a festive candle? I think not! In Bristol we have a Yankee Candle store so I love to take a trip down and stock up on candles, diffusers and wax melts because I find Yankee Candles great for making your home smell amazing. The candles look nice, smell great, burn well and last for a good while.
Of course there’s lots of brands of candles I love and a trip to Homesense or TKMaxx is always on cards this time of year so some amazing brands we don’t tend to be able to find in the UK.
I’m a total tea-aholic, so I find myself with a mug in my hand for 90% of the day. This is a great opportunity to swap out your normal mug for something festive. I don’t know about you, but glancing down at a cheesy Christmas mug always makes me smile and is a fab way to bring the Christmas spirit to your everyday.
It’s easy to forget that we’re taking a dive into winter, and even though the start of winter in the UK can be pretty mild, it’s still cold and wet most of the time and this weather is the worst for dry lips.
As with your lips, the weather mixed with central heating is a recipe for dry hands. You’re also probably shopping, cooking and cleaning more than normal, as well as wrapping presents and running errands so chances are hand sanitiser has got the better of your skin!
I have a few favourite hand creams, most of which I’ve probably already talked about before, but that’s because they’re my favourites all year round.
My top tip for hand cream is to absolutely layer it on before you go to bed so your skin has all night to soak up the goodness and you don’t have to worry about getting hand cream everywhere when you’re trying to go about your day.
LUSH BATH BOMB
Ok so, maybe it doesn’t have to be from Lush, but I recommend Lush bath products more than any other, especially at Christmas! I have a whole post on Lush’s Christmas products so I’ll link that here, but if you’re going to get one product this year and you have a bath, I’d go for a bath bomb and treat yourself to a pamper evening.
If you’re not a bath fan or you don’t have a bath, you can get a full festive experience with their range of shower gels and shower bombs!
I love sleep spray all the time, but I think it’s super important to make sure you’re getting enough sleep during the festive period because you’re seeing lots of people and doing so many things, it’s easy to get run down and that’s not what you want!
